Chilvers welcomes North End battle

Sun 22 Jun, 04:00 PM

Preston defender Liam Chilvers believes North End will have the strength in depth needed to compete at the top of the Championship next term.Lilywhites boss Alan Irvine has already added former Burnley trainees Dean Stott and Rob Turner to his squad this summer, while defenders Michael Hart and Neal Trotman and striker Chris Brown were all January acquisitions.

"I think it's good there's now competition for every position and I think there's at least two players for every position now," Chilvers told the club's official website.

"With the standard of player we've got in, no-one can be sure of their place so everyone is working that bit harder in training and it raises the standard all round."
