Leeds midfielder Jonathan Howson has spoken of his delight after committing his long-term future to the club by signing a new two-year deal. The 20-year-old - who appeared 39 times for United scoring five goals last season - is hoping to have a key role as the Yorkshire club chase automatic promotion after missing out last season in the play-off final.
Howson told the official club website: "I'm very happy - I wanted to sign when it was right for me and the club - which it is - and it's been done.
"I remember when I signed my last contract I wasn't playing regularly, but since Gary came in I've played a lot more.
"Everyone believes we are going somewhere - there's no point in dwelling on the past because you can't change it."
