Burnley have had a bid for striker Martin Paterson of £1.3million plus add-ons accepted by Scunthorpe, the League One club have announced.

The Iron have given permission for the Northern Ireland international to speak to the Coca-Cola Championship club over personal terms.

The Glanford Park club have agreed a 20% sell-on clause for the 21-year-old who was the club's top scorer last season with 14 goals.

Paterson handed in a transfer request following the club's relegation to League One last season.
