Hull manager Phil Brown hopes to capture Plymouth winger Peter Halmosi, but admits any deal is a long way off.
Brown has confirmed his interest in the left-sided midfielder as he prepares for life in the Premier League and he is now hopeful of agreeing a fee with Plymouth.
However, the Pilgrims are believed to value Hungary international Halmosi - who has previously admitted a desire to play in the top-flight - at £3million, while Hull are understood to have offered £2m.
Brown told the Yorkshire Post: "He's certainly got all the credentials to be a Premier League player.
"He's got a great left foot, he's got an eye for goal and he provides balance to the midfield.
"He could be the answer to our situation on the left side of midfield in a 4-4-2, but it's up to the two clubs to agree the right fee."
