Sebastian Vettel produced a faultless drive at Silverstone to lead a Red Bull one-two in the British Grand Prix.
The 21-year-old tyro finished 15.188 secs ahead of Red Bull team-mate Mark Webber to prove that the much-improved Milton Keynes-based team have the potential to challenge for world championship honours in the second half of the season.
Vettel started from the fourth pole of his career and was never challenged as he pulled clear from the start and delivered a perfectly-judged drive to secure the third win of his brief career - and his first in dry weather.
His two previous wins came in torrential rain in Italy last year and China earlier this season. This time he was able to reel off a series of fastest laps as he dominated proceedings under a partly-sunny sky.
Webber came home second ahead of Brazilians veteran Rubens Barrichello in a Brawn and his compatriot, Brazilian Felipe Massa of Ferrari.
German Nico Rosberg finished fifth for Williams ahead of world championship leader Jenson Button in his Brawn, Finn Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari and German Timo Glock for Toyota.
"Thankyou guys," said Vettel to his team on the slowing down lap. "It is a dream coming true! We have won the British Grand Prix."
Vettel's win cut Button's lead in the drivers championship - the Briton now has 64 points with Barrichello second on 41 and Vettel third on 39. In the constructors' championship, Brawn lead with 105 ahead of Red Bull on 74.5.
After all the political chicanery for the previous three days, the race was a rather dull and predictable affair with a huge crowd, and a paddock packed with celebrities, treated to a demonstration drive by Vettel.
In what is widely expected to be Silverstone's final British Grand Prix, 60 years after hosting the first world championship race in 1950, there was precious little for the home fans to cheer.
World championship leader Button started from sixth and struggled with his tyres as he battled to finish sixth while defending champion Lewis Hamilton gave everything in a spectacular and incident-filled outing that saw him start 18th and finish 16th.

Ok,new Shumi in Vettel they say but what a boring processional race again with miniscule overtaking chances. When the breakaway series starts how about some rule book input from the fans on how to make it more exciting with more overtaking.
I do hope you are all enjoying my characters Francis S (donkey head) and all of the others, including the couple of recent new ones.
I would like to know what you think of these characters, I might even publish my address so you can post your replies or come round and see me.

i'm a Lewis Hamilton fan, but I know that Schuey isn't the Stig; He would have beaten Lewis in the Reasonably Priced Car!
trmx13 - I'm sure I read somewehere that Nick Griffin is the love child of a prostitute and here pimp? Do you have the same background, giving you a reason to relate to him?
In any case, this blog is for F1; not your ignorant, childish rants. If you're not man enough to make these kinds of comments in public; KEEP YOUR MOUTH FIRMLY SHUT!
LIKE WATCHING PAINT DRY
If you really think that's who the Stig is, well... Funny though!!!! (Come on Ben - and the rest - show them who the real Stig(s) is/are!) ;o)
jonig2005 you don't expect that piece of scum trmx13 to say those things in public do you? The man is a coward and should be thrashed within an inch of his life or worse.
I don't think the accursed BNP will be very happy with him either, they are trying to move their image away from scum like trmx13 and to promote a caring image. Still they will easily be able to locate him should he prove to be too much of an embarrassment.

Yet again, another boring procession, i taped the "race", but after watching about half of the boring procession i deleted it from my harddisk... what a joke and waste of disk space.
its a load of rubbish, more skill needed for WSB BSB and of course Moto GP
What ever happened to Lewis Hamilton?
Great win for Button ,pol position, fastest lap..all that when his team mate Rubbens end up 6 what a great talent...dont blame I see things the way I want to see it, British proudy really sick unclassified episode.
SCHUMACHER IS THE STIG!!!!!! legend!
WINNING RUN OVER ???? Why ?...he has not come first for the second time this season, thats hardly a reason to act like he is a has been, I think we will see Button on the podium many more times before this season is over and good luck to him.
