All the players views and reactions following the opening day's play in SW19.
James Blaketells it like it is after his loss to Andreas Seppi: "There's 127 people that are going to go home from this tournament a loser."
Michelle Larcher De Brito quietly went about her business against Klara Zakopalova, but expect some grunting later in the week: "If the matches are going to be tougher, obviously I'm going to start grunting. I'm just here for myself. I'm not here really to be quiet for anybody. I'm here to play. I'm here to win. That's it. If people don't like my grunting, they can always leave."
Roger Federer opened up centre court with a straight sets victory over Yen-Hsun Lu - and sported some new threads as he made his entrance on court: "I went for a modern military look, hope people like it."
Maria Sharapova reveals her living arrangements following her win over Viktoriya Kutuzova: "It's a little homely. It's the little things like living in a house, having a normal key instead of the hotel key, cooking your own breakfast, making your own tea,"
Sania Mirza defeated Anna-Lena Groenefeld before explaining that if she wasn't a girl she would be playing another sport: "I always said maybe if I was a guy I would play cricket, Cricket is like a religion in the country. Every second person plays cricket no matter what. If any boy is born, he is going to pick up a cricket bat."
Laura Robson was pleased with her game despite losing: "That was my Grand Slam debut today, and I played a really good match. So, you know, it's different to juniors, but it's not that much different. I mean, if I would have got killed love and love, then, yeah, I'd be coming in here with a different opinion. But I didn't, so it's not too different from the level that I'm already playing."
Her opponent Daniela Hantuchova, meanwhile, was impressed with what she saw: "It didn't feel very good being a set down and a couple games down and getting kicked by, you know, a girl 11 years younger than me. Because she's left handed it makes it a bit tougher, but her serve is very good. She was hitting a couple of aces a game, and also she was very smart how she was using it."
Serena Williams thinks she has more to come after beating Neuza Silva: "I thought I served well. I thought, you know, in practice I've been doing a little bit better. I thought I could have played a ton better, especially on key points. I feel like hopefully as the tournament goes on and progresses, I'll get there."
Novak Djokovic came through a tough test against Julien Benneteau: "I think that in some points of the match I played even above my limits, especially on the match points that I had and it's frustrating when you play so well and you can't win a match."

why put Marat Safin on court 18, is that court even televised?! A lot of people'll wanna see his match, hope it's still on interactive.

cameron w, it's not that Peter lacks a sense of humour, it's just that you're not funny.

Oh well done All England Club for putting her on court 2, especially when there are no matches on centre and No.1 courts at that time. Brilliant idea! Put even more pressure on the girl. My god, the people running British tennis are such a bunch of idiots sometimes, it beggars belief. This match should have been on an outside court. Sack the tournament referee for goodness sake.
