Laura Robson was pleased with her game despite losing: "That was my Grand Slam debut today, and I played a really good match. So, you know, it's different to juniors, but it's not that much different. I mean, if I would have got killed love and love, then, yeah, I'd be coming in here with a different opinion. But I didn't, so it's not too different from the level that I'm already playing."

Her opponent Daniela Hantuchova, meanwhile, was impressed with what she saw: "It didn't feel very good being a set down and a couple games down and getting kicked by, you know, a girl 11 years younger than me. Because she's left handed it makes it a bit tougher, but her serve is very good. She was hitting a couple of aces a game, and also she was very smart how she was using it."

Serena Williams thinks she has more to come after beating Neuza Silva: "I thought I served well. I thought, you know, in practice I've been doing a little bit better. I thought I could have played a ton better, especially on key points. I feel like hopefully as the tournament goes on and progresses, I'll get there."

Novak Djokovic came through a tough test against Julien Benneteau: "I think that in some points of the match I played even above my limits, especially on the match points that I had and it's frustrating when you play so well and you can't win a match."
