Stuart McCall has conceded it looks increasingly unlikely Rangers midfielder Dean Furman will return to Valley Parade next season.
Furman spent all last season on loan at Bradford and McCall was keen to make him a permanent signing, but the 21-year-old South African is expected to choose one of several League One clubs.
McCall said: "We've been very good for Deano and he's been terrific for us. I know he loved his time here and would like to come back but, in fairness, he wants to play at the highest level possible.
"As much as we've done everything we can to get him back, I think he'll be joining a League One club if they can come up with the money that Rangers are looking for."
McCall added big earners Graeme Lee, Michael Boulding and Paul McLaren, all expected to be offloaded to free up the playing budget this summer, would be staying at Valley Parade.
He said: "I've not heard anything otherwise. At the moment I expect to see the lads back for pre-season and we'll take it from there. It's a difficult position."

#12 well said big man
the next frank lampard dean furman was labelled at chelsea, try playing him walter with stevie lennon the two of them have been class for the last 2 seasons with the unders, fk christian donkey the rangers substitute and that wee arrogant @#$% ferguson
give the youth a wage rise and a few games, am for that!!!
Stuart why are you so concerned about news from Rangers? So what, we havent been linked with any big deals! We have a League and Cup winning side unlike Celtic whos team obviously needs strengthening.
Celtics biggest news over past few days has been about signing fortune and its now been proved you were never even in the running coz your team (who many of you seem to think have a huge transfer kitty) couldnt afford him.
Youve spent most of your money to get a manager to keep the fans happy!
#9 Again well said Tom,these tic think they have a god given right to win titles and when they dont they blame every1 but themselves, just look at the excuses from last season, dont think we are in as much of a meltdown as they would like to think we are,we got some very gud youngsters right now,Loy,Forbes,Stirling, who could do us a turn,we have proved in the past that we dont need to spend big to win,2.5 mil for Laudrop point in case and look what wee Rino did for next to nothing in transfer fee?cant see venegoor of castlemilk or samaras doin much next season(just like last!!)Title will not be going anywhere next season except back in the Ibrox trophy room!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
good point metz and stuart a young fairly talented player on the bench is better than a lazy algerian or right back who looks like Rafael Da Silvas (man u) dad
#5 Very true Tom,but stick him in with Mendes & Davis & he`d be a wee cracker, boys got some pace
I rest my fooking case...top 2 stories on Rangers website are 1) Setana default on payment (there goes the transfer budget)2) John Martin in the driving seat for Rangers (What the @#$% has this got to do with footie)
Pt5...so Murray park a waste of money then?
hes unlucky that we have got more defensive midfielders than any othe position on the park exept striker
Paul G ...i thought Furman was one of the murray park bhoys that were coming back to bolster the 1st team squad??????????
When are Rangers gonna put out some news....sack heir PR department now unless they have been silenced by Mr Bain????
Another player Rangers are dumping...for Dailly
Be happy to see wee Dean back at Ibrox, hes a gud wee player, hope he gets a run in the 1st team
