Christian Dailly believes the return of Peter Grant to Celtic means Rangers will have to "up their game" next season if they want to retain their Clydesdale Bank Premier League title.
Die-hard Hoops' fan Grant, who played in midfield for the Parkhead side in the 1980s and 1990s, arrived back at Celtic last week as first team coach to new boss Tony Mowbray and his assistant Mark Venus.
"Peter was brilliant with me at West Ham and I think he will do very well at Celtic," said Dailly. "I think he could be a manager without any problem but he is made for a number two role."
Dailly, 35, had a spell working under Grant at West Ham before moving to Ibrox on a free in January 2008.
The former Scotland player was released by Rangers at the end of the season but will meet Ibrox boss Walter Smith next week to see if there is any possibility of another contract.
But regardless of where he is playing his football next season, the former Dundee United, Derby and Blackburn player expects Grant to fire up the Parkhead dressing room.
He added: "Peter was the bridge between the players and management at West Ham.
"He had the balance between giving players a hard time and having a laugh just right.
"So it's a good appointment and Rangers will have to up their game next season."

As you did get the 3rd choice guy and his signings he's mentioned are rubbish. Texted my m8 the other day who is a die hard tim who i have not spoke to since mowbray joined. I texed " Mowbray LOL", his reply was " I know m8 was not my choice either and what the f.u.k have the board done". And this guy is celtic through and through and he also said this feeling is with the vast majority of the tims he knows and they feel let down by the board for not spending. I had to agree and laugh at him as wee bet £100 every year on the spl winner and it looks like im gonna end up getting all my money back and more.
