Penney rubbishes Vaughan link

Mon 22 Jun, 02:44 PM

Oldham manager Dave Penney has dismissed reports linking the club with a move for former Tranmere defender James Vaughan.

Right-back Vaughan is currently with Australian side Wollongong and was reported to be a target for the Latics.

However, Penney told the club's official website: "Why would we move for a right-back when we have both Neal [Eardley] and Kelvin [Lomax] at the club?

"I can categorically say these reports are absolutely not true and I have no idea where they get these stories from.

"We are constantly looking to improve our squad but right-back is not a priority area for us at the moment."
