Pulis proud of Stoke progress

Mon 22 Jun, 11:59 AM

Stoke boss Tony Pulis can see what Premier League status means to the Potteries by the number of kids wearing his side's red and white shirts rather than the distinctive kits of Manchester United and Liverpool.

Pulis earned huge praise for guiding Stoke to safety last term when most pundits expected an instant slide back into the Championship.

Already almost 20,000 season tickets have been sold for the Britannia Stadium to see whether the top-flight adventure can continue in a new campaign that opens against Burnley on August 15.

Pulis realises how important Premier League status is at Stoke and while he accepts plenty of work still lies ahead, he can already see the benefits.

"We are already seeing how our fan base is growing," he told Stoke Sentinel. "Just seeing little kiddies going about town in Stoke tops, not United or Liverpool, rams it home just what progress we have made so far.

"They are now talking about their hometown club playing the big boys and they are not looking at it in awe."

  1. Don't sign Owen please. Thou i'm not doubting his powers up front, this player is prone to injury. We would soon find our new star signing is out for the rest of season due to yet another prolonged injury keeping him off the pitch.
It's great to see the fan base grow too.

  2. I do beleive that we are in for Michael Owen,i was told that we are about to sign two high profile players and the player would come as a massive shock to the Stoke supporters.
Todays paper had Owen 5/2 to go to Hull
Another bookie had Owen 9/4 to go to Hull
And wait for it """BET 365""" had Owen at 20/1 to go to Hull perhaps they know something we dont right now let's hope so in anycase

  3. Yeah, Owen and Beattie would be class. Would work for England too if the manager was brave enough to drop Campard and put Rooney in the hole. Okay, Beattie for England is pushing it and Capello don't like Owen, but Stoke would benefit from Owen with Lawrence and co. feeding him
