Ronaldo eager to confirm Madrid move

Mon 22 Jun, 08:52 PM

Cristiano Ronaldo is looking forward to a fresh challenge in his career as he moves closer to his dream switch to Real Madrid after six hugely successful years at Manchester United.

Speaking to the press in Portugal, where he is continuing his holidays, Ronaldo revealed that although negotiations are still ongoing with Madrid, he is eager for his new life to begin at the Bernabeu.

Ronaldo's management company Gestifute confirmed that the 24-year-old had spoken to the press in Portugal. "As I've already said in every interview. Real Madrid is the club in which I've always wanted to play," Ronaldo was quoted as saying.

He added: "It will be good to play with Kaka, a player who was the Ballon d'Or, the best in the world, but also with Raul, (Iker) Casillas and Guti.

"If I'm allowed, now I want to rest, because the negotiations are still not concluded.

"I want to start pre-season well, that's what I really want.

"The truth is that I'm eager to start."

He added: "I still don't have a house in Madrid, but I'll set aside time to look. I also want to learn Spanish, but this is the time to rest, to be with my family, so I can then start strongly and give the best of me.

"I know that the expectations are great but I have to get used to that."

Ronaldo also confirmed reports that appeared in the media that he had undergone medical tests with Madrid on Sunday, saying: "Everything went perfectly."

  3. jaw3dib, ok fine, I didn't read his entire post. I just look at the list of players and figured he's one of those RM fans who think attackers are the answer to everything. But the point stands. RM is spending too much money on attacker and not enough on defender. RM allowed 52 league goals last season. And Cannavaro is leaving too.

  4. All the opinions about Ronaldo (or other players for that matter) posted on blogs like this are not based on ANY first hand knowledge but rather on what the MEDIA feeds to the general public. Most of which are lies and fabrications (particularly in England) with the sole objective of increasing media sales. Is Ronaldo such a horrible guy? No, he probably isn't. But printing lies in order to drum up public haterd of a player sells, and is "good" business for the media.

  7. James D, who's going to defend? I am seeing way too many attackers in your list. Back to the topic. Ronaldo HAS NOT sign the contract yet. Everybody knows that you are not suppose to act too eager before making a major purchase or else the merchant will rip you off. Ronaldo keeps talking about wanting to move to RM will give RM a better leverage in negotiation.

  8. Is it the case that Ronaldo and Real are playing games with United by purposely delaying the finalisation of the move so as to prevent United from moving towards the signing of replacements whilst at the same time giving Real time to declare an interest in every player that United is looking to sign? This so called "DREAM" move seems to be taking its time which seems to fly in the face of Real's vigorous pursuit of Ronaldo over the last two years. It should be pointed out to SAF that contrary to his remarks earlier in the year, Real do appear to be "riding rough shod over Man U". United really do need to exercise some direct and aggressive authority.

  14. gedeon.joly,

the answer you are looking for is 'no'. Kaka will take the penalties and the free-kicks will be divided between Ronaldo, Kaka and Heskey. Real won't adapt their play to suit Ronaldo's style as United did. Instead he will be competing for space with Villa, Heskey, Kaka, Ribery, Ibrahimovic, Messi, Torres and Owen. It will be a nightmare.

Real's team will look like this:
    1. Casillas,
    2. Ramos,
    3. Ronaldo,
    4. Heskey,
    5. Raul,
    6. Kaka,
    7. Ribery,
    8. Ibrahimovic,
    9. Villa,
    10. Owen,
    11. Messi

There will be no structure whatsoever to the team and they will 2 billion euros in debt. They will then vanish from world football as they will be so heavily in debt. Atletico will be the main club in Madrid!

  15. kaka and ronaldo will be a lethal partnership...
kaka shall take the free kicks...
and the purpose they spent £80 mill for ronaldo is... to dive and win the free kicks!! haha

Phhhhh "typical...stupid" Nr.2 comment - where did you get this @#$% thinking...
Penalties? Raul wont be on the pitch, and when he was there Higuain or RVNistelrooy did it, or Guti, or vandervaart or ANYBODY...even Casillas
Freekicks?? Everybody knows that Ronaldo is the best freekicker around the world... why they wouldnt allow him to do that...
Will he score any goals... oh yeah from 20,30 meters... oh yeah, he will...
and Kaka and Benzema also... HAHAHAHAHAA

From Olah, on Mon 22 Jun 9:30PM
  17. Will Ronaldo take all the penalties? I'm sure Kaka and Raul won't be pleased.
Will Ronaldo take all the free-kicks? I'm sure Kaka and Raul won't be pleased.
Will Ronaldo be able to play centre-forward and have his team-mates channel all goal-scoring opportunities to him? I'm sure Kaka and Raul (as well as Villa, Heskey and the other signings) won't be pleased.

In sum, will Ronaldo actually score any goals for Real?
