Plymouth Argyle have cancelled the contract of goalkeeper Luke McCormick by mutual consent ahead of the 24-year-old's court date.McCormick is currently on bail as he awaits trial over a fatal road accident on the M6 last month.

He is charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving and driving with excess alcohol in his blood following the crash in which two children were killed.

Argyle suspended the player ahead of their return to pre-season training and a statement on the club's official website read: "Plymouth Argyle have today cancelled the contract of goalkeeper Luke McCormick by mutual consent.

"The club will be making no further comment on the matter."
