Bond rues defensive mistakes

Tue 22 Jul, 02:15 PM

Bournemouth manager Kevin Bond wants his side to improve at the back after they were beaten 4-1 by Premier League outfit Portsmouth.Sulley Muntari, Peter Crouch (2) and Jermain Defoe scored the goals as the FA Cup holders ran out comfortable winners, with Brett Pitman netting a consolation for the Cherries, who included a number of trialists in their side.

And Bond said: "I was pleased with how we did overall but not happy with the goals we gave away. We started second half sloppily and as a result went 3-0 down.

"All of a sudden you think you are going to be on the end of the hiding and that is not a nice feeling.

"They created their own chances and there was no reason why we needed to gift them and we conceded through a lack of concentration.

"On the plus side I thought we created some problems for them and acquitted ourselves really well."
