Peter Jackson could field a trialist with a difference when Lincoln travel to Retford United for a pre-season friendly on Tuesday night.Striker Dean Barnes plays amateur football in London, but impressed Jackson after sending a DVD showcasing his talent to Sincil Bank.

The Imps boss is now keen to run the rule over Barnes in the club's third pre-season friendly.

"Myself and [assistant manager] Iffy Onuora were sent this DVD from Dean and we thought, 'why not?', we'll watch it to see what this kid can do," Jackson told the Lincolnshire Echo.

"I have to say I was very encouraged by what I saw. He's 6ft 4in, and very raw, but he did some incredible things with the ball.

"I rang him and I said that he could come down and have a trial with us and he seemed very excited about being given the opportunity. There's certainly no harm in bringing him here to have a good look at him and you just never know what could happen especially if he does well."
