Scunthorpe boss Nigel Adkins has opted to release five trialists but will continue to run the rule over defender Michael Lea.Lea is expected to feature in Tuesday's friendly against Rotherham and Adkins has previously revealed he is close to signing the 20-year-old.

But Mark Byrnes, Sam Oji, Brewster Frizzell, Frank Belt and James Sherman have all left the club after failing to impress Adkins.

Midfielder Grant McCann is also likely to miss the Millers clash because of a foot injury.
