Stoke striker Dave Kitson is determined to demonstrate his all-round skills when he makes his debut in Tuesday's friendly against FC Nuremburg. The 28-year-old is also hoping to "earn the respect of the other players" following his club-record £5.5million move from Reading.
He told the Stoke Sentinel: "It doesn't matter who that first game is against, or what the scenario or what the level, there's so many things to learn.
"You learn about who plays where, how you can help them and they you, and ultimately how a team approaches the issue of putting the ball in the net. But I'm sure I will be fine. I'm a decent player and I think I will do well.
"If you do the business in the game, your team-mates warm to you and make it easier for you to fit in.
"I'm not looking for anything particularly spectacular in my first game, although to score a goal would be good. But it would be nice if the other players see I'm a player to be relied upon by holding the ball up, making a pass and mucking in for the team."
