Latics trying to bring back Jimmy

Tue 22 Jul, 08:45 PM

Wigan have made an approach to re-sign midfielder Jimmy Bullard from Premier League rivals Fulham, according to reports. The midfielder left Wigan to join Fulham in a £2.5million deal two years ago, but is wanted back at the JJB Stadium.

Bullard made 157 appearances, scoring 11 goals, in his first spell with the Latics before heading to Craven Cottage.

The 29-year-old suffered a serious knee injury just four games into his Fulham career and did not play a first-team match for 16 months.

However, his return to action in the second half of last season proved to be a pivotal factor in Fulham avoiding relegation from the Premier League.

Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson is now facing a battle to hang on to the talismanic Bullard following the approach from his former club.

  1. Who says wigan isn't a step up from Fulham, when it was Fulham last season who struggled to avoid the drop. Jimmy should return to Wigan or look at playing championship football in the future.

  2. Can't believe this will happen..... if a 'big club' came in for him and the fee was large enough maybe it would be reasonable to expect Jimmy to want to further his career, but Wigan!!!! we're hardly talking champions league here. Been rumours about him all summer, none true as yet so i believe this will prove the same.

  3. I thought Bullard "owed the club" after Fulham stood by him during his rehabilitation. Besides, Wigan is not a step up from Fulham.
