Mick McCarthy admits he is prepared for Seyi Olofinjana to leave Wolves in the coming weeks but still harbours faint hopes of him staying. The talented midfielder remains on the transfer list at his own request following an agreement with the Championship club that he would be allowed to leave if Wolves did not claim promotion to the Premier League last season.
True to their word, the Black Country club made Olofinjana available, and although McCarthy does not expect to kick off Wolves campaign with him on board, he has not given up all hope.
"I'd love him to stay but he'll end up going," the Wolves chief told the club's official website. "He's a Premier League player and if he gets the opportunity, he'll go.
"There will be a club for him. Everyone I've spoken to I've said 'take him' because if I was a Premier League manager I'd sign him - he's that good."
He added: "If he doesn't go, it won't break my mind to have him back. It wouldn't take long to pick up the pieces because he's a fabulous player."
