Toffees end interest in Stojkovic

Tue 22 Jul, 06:15 PM

Premier League outfit Everton are not expecting to pursue a loan swoop for Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic.Stojkovic was due to train with Everton with a view to moving to Goodison Park on a season-long loan from Sporting Lisbon.

However, the Serbian stayed just over an hour before leaving and the Toffees are now likely to shelve plans to make an offer.

"He was at the club on Wednesday, but left after only one hour," Everton's head of public relations Ian Ross told the club's official website.

"He did not justify anything to anybody and he is most probably not going to join us.

"We have been told that he is a complicated character, but this surprised us."

Toffees manager David Moyes is looking for a keeper to provide Tim Howard with competition following Stefan Wessels' departure at the end of last season.
