Dream Over For Llanelli

Tue 22 Jul, 07:09 PM

Llanelli's Champions League dream is over after they crashed to a 4-0 defeat against Ventspils in Latvia.

The Welsh side held a 1-0 lead from the first qualifying round first leg but that advantage was wiped out in the 28th minute when Yevgeni Kosmacovs opened the scoring.

Two minutes later Vits Rimkus doubled the hosts' lead with a simple tap-in.

Headers from Wyn Thomas and Stuart Jones and a Chris Holloway volley were the visitors' best chances in the first half.

Having hit the post after the break Ventspils went further ahead in the 69th minute when a Thomas clearance rebounded off Andrei Butrik past keeper Duncan Roberts before Rimkus added his second.
