Gill Stands Firm On Ronaldo

Manchester United chief executive David Gill is adamant that Real Madrid target Cristiano Ronaldo is not for sale.

Real are refusing to give up on their pursuit of the Portuguese star, with club president Ramon Calderon determined to lure him to the Bernabeu.

Ronaldo's future has been dominating the headlines all summer with the midfielder refusing to rule out a move away from Old Trafford.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has warned Ronaldo off making a move to Madrid saying it would be a mistake and now Gill says United have told the Spanish side they have no plans to sell the skilful attacker.

He told Sky Sports News: "We made it clear to them [Real Madrid] from day one we wouldn't welcome a bid, it wouldn't be accepted and therefore I don't think there is not much point in putting one in.

"That's where we are at with the situation.

"Obviously there has been lots of paper talk and a lot of coverage in the media about it and we understand that.

"But the reality of it is we have been very firm from day one."

  1. Im a real Madrid fan and i really dont want ronaldo to come to the Barnebeu. H ell ruin the team chemistry Real has a very continental style of play with alot of good long passes too. ronnaldo just wants to soemone to feed him the ball and and score, ok good but Real doesnt play that way.

  2. I agree with #5, its true at RM, its each one for himself, whilst a lot is expected by the supporters. As for Ronaldo, the tag has been set and as he focuses on fame, he has to prove that he is worth it.

  3. they will ell ronny but not in another two years. he is still young and has lots more years left in him. if he take care of his body well, he can play up until he is 33 or 35. so, what's the rush to join RM?? he is still improving and who else can help him improve a lot more other than SAF?? u guys saw what he has done for giggsy, scholes, becks & RvN... they really really developed as a players under SAF's guidance. i don't think if ronny goes to RM he can get the same guidance from schuster. at RM, i think everyone's for himself.
