Zidane will not defend his crown in the Bluesquare.com Stewards' Cup at Goodwood on Saturday week.

James Fanshawe's six-year-old won the six-furlong cavalry charge last year but has already had a busy season and is to be given some time off.

"Zidane is going for a short break and will be declared a non-runner for the Stewards' Cup," the Newmarket said.

"He has had five runs already this year and will benefit from a break."

Zidane, who was last seen finishing down the field in the July Cup at Newmarket, was as low as 12-1 with Betfred to retain the Stewards' Cup.
