Versatile defender Khalid Boulahrouz has completed his move from Chelsea to Stuttgart.
The 26-year-old - who had an impressive European Championships, starting all four of Netherlands' matches in Austria and Switzerland - joins the German club for a fee believed to be around £3.5 million.
After joining Chelsea from Hamburg for £7 million in 2006, injury and poor form limited Boulahrouz to just 13 appearances for the west London club, and he was loaned out to Sevilla the following summer.
Stuttgart coach Armin Veh said: "He is just the man we were lacking.
"He is one who is not scared of getting involved when needed."
A statement on Chelsea's official website said: "Chelsea Football Club has agreed a fee for the transfer of Khalid Boulahrouz to VfB Stuttgart in Germany.
"We would like to thank Khalid for his contribution while he was at Chelsea FC and we would like to wish him luck at his new club."
Meanwhile Portugal international Fernando Meira has left Stuttgart's Austrian training camp in order to complete his transfer out of the club.
"We have allowed Fernando Meira to leave training for now since he has several offers which he can now consider," said Stuttgart's director of sport Horst Heldt.
"He has decided to start something new. For us, his decision to leave VfB is not easy."
