Plymouth Argyle have cancelled the contract of goalkeeper Luke McCormick by mutual consent.
The 24-year-old is awaiting trial over charges of death by dangerous driving with excess alcohol following a fatal road accident in June.
Two children were killed in the accident on the M6 after the Toyota Previa they were in collided with McCormick's Range Rover.
Argyle had already suspended McCormick for their return to pre-season training and a statement on the club's official website read: "Plymouth Argyle have today cancelled the contract of goalkeeper Luke McCormick by mutual consent.
"The club will be making no further comment on the matter."

I PLAY FOR PLYMOUTH ARGYLE
these players are not wanted in our game, they earn too much money and think they can get away with anything, sack barton next and let him struggle with a 8am - 4.30pm job like the rest of us.This is from a plymouth argyle supporter
well done plymouth , pity newcastle did not do the same with barton , and other clubs with players who steal ie southampton , but with southampton they are scum anyway , but plymouth have done the right thing , nothing can bring those 2 kids back but at least plymouth did right , these players believe they are above the law , i send my thoughts to the family of those 2 young kids bless you,
Guy below got it right, now give Barton what he deserves. These kind of people not only make themselves look bad, they drag their club's name through @#$%.
well done PAFC .... Employers of Barton take note young people take notice of what these men do....
