All you ever wanted to know about Sven-Goran Eriksson.
MEDIOCRE PLAYING DAYS
* Born Feb. 5, 1948 in Torsby, Sweden
* Knee injury ended his undistinguished playing career with
Swedish second division Karlskoga in 1975.
EARLY COACHING PROMISE
* Began coaching career with Swedish third division Degerfors, guiding them to the top flight in three years.
* Joined IFK Gothenburg in 1979 and led them to the 1982 UEFA Cup crown before guiding Benfica to two Portuguese championships and a domestic cup.
* Returned to Benfica in 1989, losing the 1990 European Cup final to AC Milan, then winning the 1991 Portuguese title.
ITALIAN JOBS
* First arrived in 1984, tasting success with AS Roma in the 1986 Italian Cup.
* Second spell in Italy began in 1991/2 as coach of Sampdoria. Won the Italian Cup in 1994.
* Took over at Lazio and won the Italian Cup once more in 1998, but his team lost to Inter Milan in the UEFA Cup final in the same season.
* Lifted the last European Cup Winners' Cup a season later before finally winning the "scudetto" as part of a league and cup double in 2000. It was only Lazio's second league title.
ENGLAND DAYS
* Confirmed as the first foreigner to coach England in October 2000, taking effective charge the following February for a 3-0 friendly win over Spain.
* Helped England qualify for two World Cups and a European Championship but eliminated at the quarter-final stage on each occasion.
* Six months prior to the 2006 World Cup in Germany, the FA announced that Eriksson would leave his post after the tournament -- a British tabloid quoted him as saying he was prepared to dump England and take over at Aston Villa.
FROM MANCHESTER CITY...
* Appointed Manchester City boss in July 2007, replacing Stuart Pearce.
* Made a sensational start and did the double over Manchester United, but a patchy second half of the season included an 8-1 hammering by Middlesbrough on the final day. * Left by mutual consent on June 2.
...TO MEXICO...
* One day later Eriksson was named national coach of Mexico.
* Started well, winning three 2010 World Cup qualifiers on the trot at home.
* But after Mexico only narrowly made the final stage of 2010 qualification, national media called for his head in November. "Kick him out. It only costs $4 million," said sports daily Record.
* Sacked on April 2 after a 3-1 loss to Honduras on the same day leaves Mexico fourth in the CONCACAF qualifying standings.
... AND NOTTINGHAM
* Agrees on July 22 2009 to become director of football at League Two strugglers Notts County on a five-year contract worth a reported £2 million a year.
Comment 1 - 6 of 6
Sven's first act at Notts County has been to evict Notts Rugby from their groundshare with no notice, threatening the club with extinction. And the rugby club only went in to help County out when they were in trouble! Now the Rugby club are supported by a court injunction Sven's lot are playing real dirty tricks, boarding up offices and intimidating the secretaries.
I guess we all found out that Sven doesn't give a fig for his reputation years ago, but this childish stuff makes him a disgrace to any sport

..."and did the double over Manchester United,"..and not just any old double. I didn't rate some of his buys tho, but then he didn't have a bottomless wallet to choose from.
So....How bout the Americans in qualifying so far?
Turned gay on April the 10ht 2009
