Wallabies centre Timana Tahu fueled speculation about his future when he failed to turn up to a national team training session amid local media reports he had signed a contract to return to rugby league.
The 28-year-old, who played four Tests for the Wallabies last year after switching to union from league in 2007, was named in Robbie Deans's squad earlier this year but had not appeared for the team this season.
The centre was reported by Australian Associated Press to have signed a three-year contract with his former rugby league club the Parramatta Eels and would return to them for the start of the 2010 National Rugby League season.
"We don't know anything about him joining Parramatta," an ARU spokesman said. "All I can tell you is that we have heard from a Tahu representative and he is seeking a meeting to sort out his future with the ARU.
"We will get that meeting in place and see what transpires from there."
Tahu, who played for the Australian national rugby league team before switching to union, was contracted with the New South Wales Waratahs and ARU until the end of 2011.
Former Wallabies winger Lote Tuqiri, who is also a dual international, was sacked by the ARU earlier this month.
Neither Tahu or Tuqiri had appeared for the Australian team this season, and instead played Sydney club rugby after the Super 14 season ended.

Face facts, playing union is simply boring (unless you enjoy squirming on the ground having your eyes gouged by by a writhing mound of fat blokes). Watching it is even worse. Tahu will touch the ball more (rather than watch it sailing over his head all afternoon), do more with it given the extra space and emphasis on movement, and be valued for what he is ( a belting footballer). Welcome home.
Back to League Tahu, you never really cracked it in Rugby anyways-Just goes to show to distance growing between the codes now
