Tadayuki Okada thinks the pneumatic valve Honda is ready for Dani Pedrosa now.
Tadayuki Okada believes Dani Pedrosa should switch to racing the pneumatic-valve Honda RC212V now that is has reached full competitiveness.
Although Okada gave the bike its competition debut back at Mugello and Pedrosa's team-mate Nicky Hayden has been racing it for several rounds himself, the Spaniard has only had limited time on the machine.
Pedrosa was due to sample the Honda during the collective test at Brno this week, but cut it short following misgivings with the Michelin tyres that meant he felt he wouldn't be able to get the best from the bike.
Nonetheless, Honda test rider Okada has urged erstwhile championship leader Pedrosa to take a chance on racing the bike in a bid to give his ailing season a shot in the arm.
"At Brno we tested some new steps in development, concerning both engine and electronics. In Japan we are working on both the spring valve engine and the pneumatic valve engine," Okada told MotoGP.com
"Since my last appearance in Italy I can say that the bike with the pneumatic valve engine has improved a lot. I think it has reached a satisfactory level."
Pedrosa is due to resume testing of the bike following the next round of the season at Misano, but Okada is convinced he needs to make the switch sooner rather than later.
"For us it improves every time we try something different. Sometimes small changes can make a big difference to what we feel. It has improved a lot now. I even told Dani, if you have the time please try it because it is better than before!"
Pedrosa has scored just a single point in the last three races thanks to a combination of injury and a lack of competitiveness.

to colin- make the most of it while you can cause next season all your inferior tat [and you know who are]are going to get such an arse kicking yo won't be able to sit down for a year. and colin i think you're find that the honda F1 car is doing better than the yamaha, ducati and kawasaki F1 car, WHY? because they don't generate enough income from the bilge they flog that they can't afford to go F1 racing, read just how big and sucessful honda are, facts don't lie- REPSOL ROSS
First - rrcarsofgosport, Tee hee, rightful place??? What would happen if REPSOL depart MotoGP? Anyhow, even if there is not a single tyre rule applied, Honda will be on Bridgestones following the development of the 09 bike given to Nakano who's bike is on Bridgestones. So, HRC should get Dovi on board sooner than later. And enough of the tat comments, who can forget Sachenring and the eight bike train and overtakes, they weren't tat then and they're not tat now.
bwminty, Pedi is injured and he has shown he can ride fast in the rain this year, plus he cracked a smile on the Podium this year, so give him some credit, well a little anyway, if he hadn't been injured he'd still be in hunt for the 08 title. And, well Rossi, back to his imperious form at last. As one who has watched him through from 125 GP's, he's got that look back and he is the one to chase again. As for Stoner, I don't think he would fall for the Rossi twinkle, like so many others have, so he'll be back in the mix soon enough.
it shows how desperate honda is to try and re-employ rossi...they've got no direction.no dis-respect to messers hayden and pedrosa, and i'm sure tady-san is very good, but he's hardly on championship level lap pace is he? no one can develope a bike better than rossi.history shows this. honda shot themselves in the foot with a double barrel shot gun,one bullet was treatin rossi like a robot, and the other was pushing for 800's.....rossi had the last laugh when he left for yamaha....by winning the championship, taking a bike built for biaggi, turning it into the benchmark(back then) and showing all at honda the middle finger!!!
honda only have themselves to blame.you can't blame the riders, honda has built donkeys since rossi left.
to rrcarsofgosport: with all the knowhow that honda has, they still can't build a championship winning motogp bike or F1 car for that matter, so (Repsol) Honda = inferior tat!
Honda needs to focus and get a stronger rider than Dani to replace Nickey or be happy being losers.
The RCV 211 was developed while Rossi was with Honda who helped with the development. He then won the title on it and it was the bike everyone wanted to be on especially Max. Rossi jumped on Max's old bike and took the title on that which Honda were not happy with. Hayden had a good year and Rossi a bad one allowing Honda to regain the title. It was actually Honda who pushed for the change to 800cc as they knew they would struggle with the 990 and thought they had something special in the 800.
I am not to bothered what bike was developed for who and all that, I just like to see good close racing.
to bwminty,
first of all Hayden was a "world champion" because Rosi had a lot of problems that year, and now Dani has 4 more wins than the f...... Hayden that tells all I think,as you saw Dani made a perfect start to the Germany GP and a 7 SECONDS gap over Stoner, only the bad luck prevented him of winning that GP, this years bike is much better for Hayden than the last year and yet nevertheless he cant do nothing with it and you know why: because he is a weak driver. That is all
OH how the mighty Honda have fallen!
Honda has a World champion in Hayden who wins it on a bike developed for Pedrosa.
What do they do? Keep developing a bike for a guy who can't ride in the rain and whines. I hope hayden goes to another team that apprieciates him. Pedrosa will never win the Championship. Mark my words.
To Honda- DUMP MICHELIN! To Dani- I wish you a quick regress in good shape, Stoner did not deserve to be in front of you in championship. And, about Rossi, well, he is the best! Ever
come on dani and honda its about time we moved ahead of this inferior tat thats lurkiing all around us, their starting to see the finishing post, not because their any good, just because we've taken our eye off the ball- we are REPSOL, we are HONDA, now lets go to our rightful place-THE TOP, if i have to listen to anymore rossi did this, rossi did that BS i won't be able to hold it all in check lol- REPSOL ROSS
