Visconti triumphs in Trofeo Melinda

Italian rider Giovanni Visconti of ISD won the one-day semi-classic Trofeo Melinda.
Visconti, who won the Coppa Agostoni on Thursday, defeated compatriot Stefano Garzelli (Acqua e Sapone) in a sprint at the conclusion of the 194km run.
He is now on the verge of qualification for the World Championships.
Colombian Miguel Angel Rubiano (Centri della Calzatura) was third, three seconds adrift, while Italians Ivan Basso (Liquigas) and Giampaolo Caruso (Ceramica) were fourth and fifth just behind him.
Juan Mauricio Doler (Barloworld), Domenico Pozzovivo (CSF), Santo Anza (ISD), Massimiliano Gentili (Ceramica) and Cristiano Salerno (LPR) completed the top 10, a few seconds between each rider.
