Wigan crumble as Reds run riot

Sat, 22 Aug 18:36:49 2009

England striker Wayne Rooney joined the 100 club and Michael Owen got off the mark as Manchester United beat Wigan 5-0 at the DW Stadium.

Rooney made the breakthrough in the 56th minute and got his second nine minutes later in a fine second half show.

In between, Dimitar Berbatov found the target in the 58th minute as United bounced back from their humbling by newly-promoted Burnley in midweek.

Owen made his mark in the 85th minute after replacing Rooney 13 minutes earlier and Nani completed the scoring in stoppage time with a superb free-kick.

  1. This struk winning does not mean that man u is really d best 4 now bcos the winner is merely recognised in the ring until he is out of d ring. Man u must consider d next 3 tough matches b4 we fans can have rest of mind. Pls, kindly b mindful of evans injury cos pain killer isn't good enough 4 him, let him do d surgery if he desires, he's a good lad. I really love today's match. We prove 2 b real united without any goal concession. Kudos to u all. Great also to d wingers ball distribution & vidic resurection. D2
