Steven Davis opened his goalscoring account for the season in Rangers' 2-1 win against Motherwell on Sunday - and then pledged to add plenty more to his tally.
The midfielder admits he was disappointed to notch up just one goal - against Werder Bremen in the UEFA Cup - while on loan at Rangers last term.
And, when he signed a permanent deal with the Ibrox club last month, he vowed to make a bigger contribution in front of goal this time around.
"I didn't score as many goals as I would have liked during my loan spell here and that's something I've been trying to do this season so it was nice to get my first one," said Davis.
"As midfield players, we have to chip in with the goals and help out the strikers.
"I was delighted to get off the mark and hopefully that's something I can improve on throughout the season."
Rangers fans celebrated 'Ulster Day' at Ibrox with flags and banners marking the contribution of players past and present who hailed from Northern Ireland and it was appropriate that Davis would add his name to the scoresheet on that particular day.
"Kirk Broadfoot mentioned it before the game and it was nice," he said.
"There are plenty of fans from back home who come over every week and it was nice to get a goal in front of them."
Goals from Davis and Nacho Novo kept Rangers at the summit of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League although David Clarkson set up a tense finale to the match by pulling a goal back with three minutes to go.
Davis said: "Motherwell frustrated us in the first half and they were a difficult side to play against, we knew that from our games against them last season.
"They proved that again but I thought overall we deserved the win.
"We probably should have made it a bit more comfortable for ourselves than we did and they pushed us right to the end so we are delighted with the three points."
Motherwell boss Mark McGhee blasted his players' performance afterwards - insisting only one player had succeeded in playing his way into his plans for Wednesday's Co-operative Insurance Cup tie against local rivals Hamilton.
"Jamie Murphy came on and showed the enthusiasm and energy that we normally expect of David Clarkson and Chris Porter and was absolutely brilliant," he said.
"He could have got us back into the game but it was too late.
"We don't have a lot of options. We have a couple of options on the bench and Jamie Murphy now becomes a huge option and will play against Hamilton on Wednesday night.
"There is no doubt about it - how can you leave him out? Marc Fitzpatrick and Steven McGarry are two others who would have a claim to play."
