Premier League - Hull clinch Stelios signing

Eurosport - Mon, 22 Sep 22:56:00 2008

Hull have signed former Bolton midfielder Stelios Giannakopoulos.

FOOTBALL Stelios Giannakopoulos 2008 - 0

The 34-year-old Greek player left Bolton in the summer and has been without a club since.

He had been training with Hull as a free agent and now joins Phil Brown's Barclays Premier League side on a permanent contract.

The experienced Greece international spent five years at Bolton and scored some memorable and important goals for Wanderers.

However he drifted out of the first team at the Reebok Stadium and was shipped out at the end of last season, with Bolton manager Gary Megson deciding he was no longer needed.

At Hull he will compete for a place with the likes of George Boateng, Geovanni, Ian Ashbee, Peter Halmosi and Dean Marney.

The top-flight newcomers have confirmed Giannakopoulos has joined them initially until the end of the season.

  4. Fair bit of talent in Hulls midfield!

Having the older boys is a bonus but have they still got the legs?

Im a yid so I can vouch for Marney being a tidy player....hell I wish we still had his fight and talent but the addition of Stelios is a nice touch for Hull, add Barmby and Giovanni? there are match-winners there !

Past history suggests an underlying tone of inconsistancy with those players but I'd rather be a tigers fan right now.

Wish them the best for the season
