Dundee impressed as an extra-time winner from substitute Leigh Griffiths produced a shock 3-2 CIS Cup win over top-flight opponents Aberdeen.

Goals in either half of regulation time from defender Eddie Malone and winger Craig Forsyth looked to have earned the First Division favourites a deserved scalp before the Dons restored parity in a stirring comeback with a double from substitute Michael Paton.

The momentum looked to have swung the way of the visitors but Griffiths pounced in the closing seconds of the first half of extra time to seal the Dens Park outfit's passage into the quarter-finals.

Ross Forbes scored his seventh goal of the season to edge Motherwell into the quarter-finals with an 119th-minute strike sealing a 3-2 win against 10-man Inverness.

The 20-year-old lashed the ball home from 16 yards as Well continued their unbeaten domestic record under Jim Gannon despite twice losing the lead to former manager Terry Butcher's Irn-Bru First Division side.

Well took control after Robert McHugh's first-half header but Inverness substitute Andrew Barrowman took advantage of some slack marking to head a 70th-minute equaliser, just before David Proctor was sent off.

An own goal from Nauris Bulvitis put Well ahead four minutes into extra-time and Forbes prevented penalties after Grant Munro had headed another equaliser.

Substitute Andy Dorman snatched a last-gasp 2-1 victory for St Mirren to send them through after Kilmarnock had staged a comeback at Rugby Park.

Stephen McGinn thought he had grabbed the winner for Saints but there was plenty of drama to come when Kevin Kyle's late leveller for the home side looked set to force the tie into extra-time.

However, it was Dorman - who came off the bench after an hour - who had the final say when he claimed the decisive goal in stoppage-time as Killie suffered an agonising defeat.

St Johnstone gained sweet revenge for Saturday's 3-0 thumping at Hibernian by dumping them out of the cup with a 3-1 win at Easter Road, while Dundee United progressed with a comfortable 2-0 victory at Ross County.
