James Thompson was delighted after LADA Sport collected their first WTCC points in Imola.
In the first race, the Briton took advantage of a pile up at the start and defended his sixth position and repeated the result in the second race.
"It's been a great weekend for Lada on a circuit that I love and this pair of results definitely shows that we are making progress," said Thompson.
"The car seems to be getting better and better. We've got to be realistic as there is still plenty to do, but this is certainly a sign that we are heading in the right direction."
Team Principal Viktor Shapovalov added: "Not only have we scored our first points, in both races, but we have also improved our pace to the point where we can really compete with our rivals. We can be very proud of everything we have achieved so far.
"I would like to thank our drivers and all our team members for doing such a great job. We will continue to work hard on development, with the aim of keeping this same pace in future."

Yea but not like driving an Aussie Super V8 eh james?
I wonder if Lada have any vacancies for ex Brazilian F1 drivers with a history of parking to order in the service of team mates in need of a shin up to the top of the rostrum ?
Only Thompson could put that bucket of nails up there. The dutchman gave us an excellent impression of those wonderful men in their flying machines as he barrel rolled it. The car sucks big time.
I wonder how long it will be before Lada join Team Yorkshire Values and Notts County F1 on the grid ?
Well done James Thompson and the Lada Team :-)
