Stoke goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen has blasted Tottenham full-back Alan Hutton for the challenge which he claims almost left him blind.
The Dane had to be substituted during the second half of his side's 2-1 victory over Spurs on Sunday, after a clash with Hutton left him with blood pouring out of a face wound.
The Scotland defender was booked for the challenge, but Sorensen is fuming at what he feels was a preventable collision.
"It was a millimetre off me losing my sight," Sorensen said.
"I have been sewn up in the eye socket but it is miraculous there's no more damage. We are at a stage where it is not funny any more.
"He could have avoided hitting me. He had no chance to reach the ball but he still threw himself into it, leading with his studs.
"The doctor has done a very good job so my face is not totally destroyed."

I've watched the replay over and over again. Sonko clumped him in the back of the head, if Hutton caught him, it was the faintest of touches. It wasn't malicious, like Cashley's tackle on Hutton back at the Lane in april.
Sorensen needs to grow some balls.
its sad that spurs had to resort to this dire team relegation the best thing for them.
forgive him lad. the guy got smack in the head & bound to have some realignment. SHUT UP YOU MORON. Its your own def & BY ACCIDENT. Stop playing & go play snooker or lawn bowl...
As like what every one else is writing here, Hutton didnt touch him, it was his own player!! AND Hutton even check to see if you was ok and said SORRY for something he didnt even do
I saw the replay, watched it over again.
Hutton just about clatters him but misses, his own player runs over to sqaure up to hutton and clatters him on the way past.
See the match cast on yahoo say:
"Hutton leaves a foot in on Sorensen and, although there's no contact with the keeper, the Spurs right-back gets booked."
Commentary on MOTD agrees with that.
Hutton didn't make contact, his own player did.
What an idiot.
Look to Bert Troutman you wimp!! He played on with a BROKEN neck. Mind you, that was when goalkeepers expected a bit of contact and not to be wrapped up in cotton wool, being protected by their back four.
I've played as a keeper a lot over the years and you don't take on the job if you think its a cushy number where you don't have to run around much and only have to break off from compiling the xmas shopping list to occasionally pick the ball out of the net.
If you're not prepared to get stuck into those 50-50 challenges for fear of spoiling your boyish good looks you should give it up and stick to knitting!!!
he should look at the replays before yapping off.! and his teammates and coach should point this out to him before allowing him to humiliate himself in such a manner.!
Petr Cech never whined. His injury with his near-death collision with Stephen Hunt was far worse. And he tore his face up in training with Tal Ben Haim too. He takes it like a man. He knows it's a man's game, and there's a lot of passion, so these things happen.
Not a nice injury for Sorensen, however this fella has history.... John Gregory called him a pretty boy goalkeeper as he didn't always go in where it hurts and Martin O'Neill couldn't wait to get rid.
well said grantpenfold157 if the big div takes a closer he will see his own player actually hit him NOT Hutton
hutton gives 100% its a mans game!
its all part of the game, no malice there at all, it was a 50/50 ball, as for sorensen, well this sort of thing happens day in, day out, so get over it. i agree with the cech comment, goalies are supposed to hard as nails, thank you and good night!!!
grantpenfold157
I think you must be blind Hutton hit him in the face studs up his defender did not help as he cought he in the back of his head with his knee but Hutton had no chance of getting the ball and was correctly booked
huttone clearly went for the ball, the speed he goes at there was no way he could have pulled out when soresons head was on the ground. he did hit his head yes, keeper got the foul. end of story!!!
just shut ur mouth already. cech suffer the same situation n didnt complain at all, actually he get it twice! one with hunt(reading) n second with ben haim. first, he had to wear those helmet n obviously it'll disturb cech. n with ben haim, he been out of action coz it injured his face. as a keeper, you should know better that this situation will come n not one or twice, but almost every game that you played. a match is like a war, prepare and face it!!!!!
As a Rangers fan , i know that Allan Hutton gives 100% , if the rest of his Spurs team-mates did the same they would,nt be in the position they are , there is no way he was not trying to get to the ball . Sorenson being a keeper should know better or chuck it cos it won,t be the last time something like that happens to him , and every forward in the league will now go through him cos they know he is scared of contact.
MORON GRANTPENFOLD157!!!
Sure you don't want to watch it again?
As clear as daylight that Hutton caught him in the face with his studs showing.
Ask 100 people who actually WATCHED this game and 99 will tell you he caught him. And one of those 99 would be Stevie Wonder...yes, it was that obvious!
Actually Hutton did hit him in the face, his own defender hit him on the back of the head after that just to make sure
What a @#$%! Have a look at the replay you moron and then vent your anger on your own defender who smashed you in the face! Oh by the way Hutton sue this clown for lible
