Hull midfielder Bryan Hughes has joined Championship club Derby County on a month-long loan.

Hull City's Bryan Hughes - 0

Nigel Clough has brought in Hughes to provide back-up as the Rams have a number of injuries.

"I'm delighted we have been able to secure Bryan's services: he is player who brings vast experience to our squad," Clough told the club's official website.

"Everyone knows about our injury situation and when we looked at the list of available players Bryan's name stood out.

"I would like to thank (Hull City chairman) Paul Duffen and (manager) Phil Brown for agreeing to loan Bryan to us - and I am sure he will settle in with no problems at all."

Hughes could make his debut against Queens Park Rangers at Pride Park on Saturday.

Hughes is best known for his spell at Birmingham, where he played from 1997 to 2004 helping them to promotion to the Premier League in 2002.

He then joined Charlton Athletic in 2004 before a move to Hull in 2007 - where he was again involved in a successful promotion campaign to the top flight.

  2. Agree with Matthew, there is obviously a problem with training at Derby. The players are picking up far to many injuries, they are just not fit for purpose. Get back to basics NC and concentrate on stamina and mobility.

  3. Hughes is an honest lad and will do a job for Derby. maybe a bit past it for the Premier League unfortunately.

Good luck to him I say.

  4. not bad, but no doubt he will pick up an injury in training and be out for 7 years. Hence the hint of sarcasm in my voice.. getting a little fed up with Derby's injury list.
