Barnsley striker Michael Coulson could be back from his loan spell at Chester sooner than expected as the Blues face expulsion from the Football Conference.

Coulson joined Chester on an emergency 28-day loan spell last week but the Football Conference have threatened to kick them out of the league if they fail to repay money they owe to Wrexham and Vauxhall Motors by next Monday.

The 21-year-old, returning from successive cruciate knee ligament injuries, is hoping to build up his match fitness with Chester and played 89 minutes in his first match - a 1-0 win at Gateshead last weekend.
