Celtic suffered their third European home defeat under Tony Mowbray to leave them staring at an early exit from the Europa League as Hamburg ran out 1-0 winners.
Marcus Berg finished clinically in the 63rd minute after Ze Roberto had split open the Celtic defence as Hamburg joined Arsenal and Dinamo Moscow in further undermining Celtic's previously formidable home record.
Celtic, who have now won just two of eight home games in all competitions under Mowbray, were sloppy in possession throughout, although they created several first-half chances.
Only Barcelona had beaten Celtic in a European match at Parkhead in eight years before Mowbray took charge, but the latest defeat leaves the Hoops well adrift at the bottom of their group with just one point from three games.
Hamburg had already had a number of chances when the goal came, while Scott Brown, playing in an unfamiliar striking role, saw some of Celtic's best opportunities come his way.
Shaun Maloney also had chances, but after the goal Hamburg looked the stronger as Celtic were booed off the park.

1 up front a home - not on! u see the mess the huns get in with that sort of set up. mowbray needs to get his finger out. don't know wot there doin a training coz the amount of misplaced passes n bad touches from this set of players is unreal.
Mowbray best is not good enough!
frankie get off th crack..you sound like a typical blu nose, eat th humble pie n ssush!
3 strachan's flops??? who took us to the last 16 of the champions league twice and who has had us unceremoniously dumped out of two european competions before the end of october?? wake up and smell the coffee. TM is utterly useless and the sooner he goes the better. i just hope that it is quickly to enable us to get someone in who can salvage some pride from an otherwise devastatingly awful season. who is to blame for this?? Tony Mowbray. I hope he has enough honour to put up his hands and carry the can and leave.
maybe now all those stupid celtic supporters and management crying out for strachan to be sacked will realise just how good strachan really was....bring back strachan and sack this numpty mowbray...results speak for themselves
Mobray needs more time..........he is trying his best with Strachans flops,Celtic have not had a defence for 4 seasons now and you cant lay the blame at Mowbrays doorstep for that. The Lawells and the investors have to have a good look at themselves as Celtic Park is degenerating into a complete mess.38,000 for a home game in europe just about sums it all up..............
celtic just now only one word can describe them is SHAMBLES.
How much longer do we have to put up with Mowbray's failures and ineptitude?
Based on results, Mowbray is not up to the job. 7 games in europe, one win, one draw and five defeats. Four home games, no wins, one draw and three defeats. he is the one who asked to be judged on his results, ok, i'm judging him on his results and he has been found very wanting. he should and needs to resign before we have nothing to play for this season at all. its still october and we are realistically out of both european competitions. he really needs to take a long hard look at his position and whetehr he can turn this around. personally, i very much doubt it and i think he should resign now while there is still time to bring in someone who can command the respect of the players. sadly, i don't think Mowbray can.
