As reported a few days ago, Sébastien Loeb and Dani Sordo will have the opportunity to test a Renault Formula One car early next month, only a few days after the final round of the World Rally Championship in Wales.
On the initiative of a common sponsor, the favour will be returned as Heikki Kovalainen of the Renault team will also be driving a Citroën Sport C4 WRC!
Preparations are going full steam ahead. Dani Sordo and Sébastien Loeb went to the Enstone headquarters for a seat fitting on 7th and 8th November in order to ensure they will be optimally installed at the controls of the R26 car, last year's winner of the Formula One World Championship.
The two Citroën drivers received their first explanations concerning the procedures to follow as well as getting settled in the car and getting to know the team. They are champing at the bit to see what the results will be on the track.
Loeb and Sordo will be tasting the sensations generated by the F1 single-seater on 5th December at the Paul Ricard circuit near Marseille.
The Total-Elf company, which sponsors both the Citroën Sport rally team and the Renault F1 team, wanted to add a bit of spice to the proceedings by also settting up a challenge for Formula One driver Heikki Kovalainen.
To say that Kovalainen is delighted to try out a rally car would be an understatement! The young Finn will be climbing into Loeb's C4 to see if he has inherited his father's genes: the latter was a rally driver in Finland.
