Scunthorpe midfielder Jim Goodwin has stepped up his recovery from recent injury problems with game for the club's reserve side.Goodwin last appeared for the Iron in their 2-2 draw with Barnsley on New Year's Day but has been troubled by an ankle injury and has not appeared for the first team since.

But the 26-year-old was given the nod to feature for the second-string side against Lincoln on Tuesday after he past a late fitness test.

Goodwin played 45 minutes against the Imps second XI and if there is no reaction he could be in contention for the weekend trip to Burnley.

"Jim has recently been suffering from a painful heel which has kept him out of action for the last few games," Dalton told the club's official website.

"Last week he went to see a specialist, so hopefully he will be back in action for the first team as soon as possible."
