Wolves winger Michael Kightly has revealed he hopes to resume full training by the end of the week. The England Under-21 international injured his ankle in the draw with local rivals West Brom and bar a goalscoring appearance in the FA Cup third round win over Cambridge, has been sidelined ever since.
The 21-year-old was given an injection to reduce inflammation last week and while he will not be fit enough to face Watford at the weekend, he hopes a return is imminent.
"I had the injection on Thursday and my ankle now feels better than it has done at any stage since I first strained it (in the West Brom game)," he told the club's official website.
"When I came back last time I could still feel it, but I thought that was normal given the length of time I'd been out. But now it feels fine, so fingers crossed it will be okay when I give it a good test out. I still need to work on my fitness.
"After being out for eight-and-a-half weeks it doesn't matter how much work you do in the gym or the swimming pool, it's not the same. But if everything goes to plan I could be in full training at the end of the week. We'll just have to see how it goes."
