Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross believes he is developing a fruitful partnership with Leon Cort as both have now signed permanently for the club. The duo both secured permanent moves to the Britannia Stadium last week and between them have scored 13 goals in total this season.
Cort netted a brace in the 3-1 win over Preston last weekend to take his tally to six in all competitions, one behind Shawcross.
"Me and Leon have got a bit of a wager about who will score the most goals, so I had better get my finger out," said Shawcross.
"Leon's great to play alongside. He's a beast who wins everything in the air and we are developing a good partnership."
Shawcross shunned a new deal at Manchester United to join the Potters, and added: "Sir Alex Ferguson was disappointed I turned down a new contract at Old Trafford, but he wished me well because he understands my reasons. I want to play first-team football."
