Stallard on the comeback trail

Wed 23 Jan, 05:32 PM

Lincoln striker Mark Stallard has admitted his relief after getting the green light to return to training after three months out injured. The 33-year-old suffered a groin injury in October before returning in December, but a knee problem picked up on Boxing Day ensured his return to the first team was shortlived.

Lincoln physio Michael Wait told the club's official website: "Mark went for a scan and X-ray last week and, after an appointment with the knee specialist, he had an injection in the back of his knee to help settle the problem.

"The injection was the final part of the treatment and he's now back in full training with the first team.

"He hasn't lost any of his fitness and if this week goes well then he'll be another option for the manager at the weekend."

Stallard added: "It's been stop-start for me over the past three months so I'm relieved to be returning to training."
