Gillingham boss Mark Stimson has had a bid accepted for an unnamed player and is confident of signing "a couple of new faces" at Priestfield. The Gills drew 0-0 with Oldham on Tuesday and Stimson admitted afterwards he remains hopeful of completing several deals this week.
"With a bit of luck we might have a couple of new faces in by the weekend," said Stimson.
"We thought we might have had a player in on Tuesday after having a bid accepted by his club but he had to travel with his team.
"Once again, we're waiting by the phone for somebody to say you have got permission to talk to a player as we have accepted your bid. We then go from there.
"I'm sure once we get these players down to our football club, and they listen to the chairman and me about our ambition and desire to take this club forward, they will want to jump on board."
