Swansea moved eight points clear at the top of the League One table after a 2-1 win at home to struggling Crewe on Tuesday night.Thomas Butler's early strike set the leaders on their way and Paul Anderson's stunning solo effort sealed the points as they edged closer to the Championship. Tom Pope grabbed an injury-time consolation as Crewe continued their battle to avoid relegation.
It was one-way traffic from the off as the Swans laid siege, and Butler was finally rewarded with a 13th-minute angled drive for the opener.
Crewe had goalkeeper Ben Williams to thank for keeping the score down in a one-sided contest as Guillem Bauza, Ferrie Bodde, Garry Monk and Andy Robinson were denied.
Substitute Anderson finished off a sweeping 77th-minute move to seemingly kill off struggling Crewe and give some vital breathing space.
And it proved crucial as Pope set up a grandstand finish with a consolation at the death as the Alex continue to struggle near the wrong end of the table.
