Scunthorpe manager Alan Knill does not expect to bring in any new players before the midweek clash with Sheffield Wednesday.

Knill, desperate to boost to his injury-hit squad before the transfer window ends, revealed he was without more than a dozen first-team players for training last week and is anxious to strengthen with loan players by the end of the month.

Knill told the club's official website: "We've tried everywhere. We had 13 players injured on Tuesday for training, so you can see how desperate we are.

"We've put some names to the board and hopefully we can do something before the window closes. It will most likely be on a loan basis."

Asked if new players would arrive in time for Tuesday night's home game, Knill added: "I doubt very much. We're desperate really because we don't have enough bodies."

Striker Bobby Grant returned to action after a three-week ankle injury lay-off in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Stevenage, Aron Wint was recalled early from his loan at Belper and midfielder Damien Mozika was also included on the bench despite not having fully recovered from a long-term ankle injury.
