Derby hope to sign a midfielder on loan before the transfer window closes, as uncertainty continues to surround Paul Green's future at the club.
Green is out of contract at the end of the season and manager Nigel Clough has said there is a chance that the Republic of Ireland international will leave Pride Park this month, so he would like to bring another player in as cover.
"We are conscious of Paul Green's situation, so we hope to get another loan midfielder in," said Clough. "I think one or two other clubs have inquired about him but there has been no firm offer. I think it is one of those where a club might leave it until the final week of the window to see if they can get him a little bit cheaper.
"If no-one comes in with the right offer for him, we would be delighted to keep him until the end of the season and we will see if we can get him a deal on the table then.
"Unfortunately, we have been led to believe that he will probably want a bit more than we can afford. We would love to be able to make him a better offer but finances at the moment don't quite permit that.
"We have got other priorities as well that we need to look at this summer, so we will have to juggle things around and see what we can do."

I do find it strange that as DCFC are starting to get a team together that can challange for the Championship players are being allowed to go that do a good job.
The "finances" claim is now becoming a bit thin. Debts are supposed to be under control. We get some of the highest gates anywhere. Higher earning players have moved on or moving on.
I know we are restructuring but you can't do anything in the Championship with loan players. Loan players are either players that are not good enough for thier own team or coming back from injury or on the way out of football or got other problems.
