Claudio Pizarro's chances of earning a move to Werder Bremen are not looking good after he made the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

The Peruvian striker is on loan at the northern Germany side until the end of the season from Chelsea and the signs are he will be returning to London in July after failing to impressive the Bundesliga side with his conduct.

He was left out of the squad for Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Energie Cottbus after arriving back in Bremen late on Friday morning and missing the start of training.

Coming on the back of a red card in a recent Bundesliga match for violent conduct, director of sport Klaus Allofs admitted his frustration.

"It was a huge disappointment for me that that happened to a player like Pizarro," he said.

"We signed him to act as a leading player who should serve as a role model to the others but then he was suspended for violent conduct against Karlsruhe and now this happens."

Allofs backed the decision taken by coach Thomas Schaaf to exclude him from Saturday's game after breaching club rules.

"To have let him play anyway would have sent out the wrong signal," he added.

"We cannot accept such behaviour. We voluntarily dropped one of our weapons but we have got to live with that."
