Defender John Thompson is likely to be missing for Oldham when they travel to Doncaster after going off injured early on against Millwall.Thompson went off to be replaced by Jason Jarrett, who is likely to step into midfield with David Livermore filling in at the back.

Manager John Sheridan may also consider selecting Ashley Kelly and Paul Black.

Skipper Sean Gregan is expected to be named among the substitutes while on-loan Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell will continue between the sticks.

Sheridan, meanwhile, has all but ruled out the prospect of a late surge for the play-offs, saying: "There are four teams above us in with a better chance now, it might be different if it was just one or two."
