Germany international Michael Ballack returned to the Chelsea side for their Premier League clash with Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.

Michael Essien looked set to play at right-back in the only change from the team which drew 4-4 at Tottenham in midweek.

Under-fire full-back Ashley Cole lined up against his former club, while ex-Gunner Nicolas Anelka was on the bench.

Arsenal named an unchanged side from the one which drew with Middlesbrough last weekend.

Theo Walcott, called into the England squad this week, was among the substitutes, while ex-Chelsea defender William Gallas also faced his former team-mates.
