Derby boss Paul Jewell has added fuel to reports he will buy Lee Carsley this summer, hailing the Everton man as the "type of player" he wants.Carsley has been strongly linked with a return to the Rams at the end of the current campaign when he is out of contract at Goodison Park.
Jewell rightly refuses to reveal whether he is interested in the 34-year-old international, who spent the first seven years of his career with Derby.
However, he is on the lookout for a player of Carsley's character as he plans an immediate return to the Premier League in the wake of this season's relegation.
"Lee has been one of Everton's best players this season," said Jewell in the Derby Evening Telegraph.
"I wouldn't be so silly as to comment on players who are in other manager's teams at the moment. That would be unfair and unwise.
"I don't think it's right for me to say I'm signing Lee Carsley, but certainly that type of player is what we're looking for, as well as some youth."
Toffees boss David Moyes has been linked with a move for Portsmouth's Sean Davis as a replacement for Carsley.
